The Red Barn, a treasured community resource, is managed by the Strafford Recreation Board. Various community organizations store equipment in the Red Barn: the Newton School, the Creative Preschool, the PTA, Strafford athletic programs (baseball & soccer), and the Newton drama program. In addition, the Rec Board stores a wide variety of sporting and outdoor equipment for community members to use. Of equal value, we house different types of medical equipment for those seeking assistive medical devices.
Because area organizations store their equipment here, we do restrict access to the building. Regularly scheduled "Open Red Barn Dates" are opportunities for community members to visit the barn to find seasonal sports equipment. We make every effort to accommodate people's wishes to access the building. Notices of Open Red Barn Dates will be posted on the Strafford Listserv and Strafford Facebook. If you are unable to make a specific date, contact a rec board member.
